Yes there are some nods to Kubrick's masterpiece and some copied shots etc, particularly the head through the bathroom door and some less obvious mixing of shots, but Kubrick would've been bored to s**t and switched it off long before then probably.

Let's just say the director and writer followed the Stephen King book rather than the Kubrick film or simply didn't have any idea what the original film was about other than the simplistic "evil hotel" view
