It seems to me we are doing way more tests than most countries, the positive test rate is still about 1% which suggests we are doing more than enough of it and the rate of increase in cases isn't going up fast.
The rationale for not doing more seems completely sound to me in that doing dramatic things too soon lesson's their effectiveness.
Italy has taken the most dramatic action and from their death rate (which implies the infection rate is actually much higher) and infection rate I don't see how anyone could think they are the model to follow.
