weirdly, Germany has around 1000 cases and no deaths (yet)

there's clearly a lot we don't yet understand about who is at risk and the best treatment/avoidance of death.

These things will become clearer, so whatever happens it's wise to avoid being infected as best you can while researchers can work out those factors, besides preventing the NHS from being utterly overwhelmed
