Just got back, as these posts, tend to start from the reserves at Palace.
Effin cold evening, only livened up by not having to pay FIVE ENGLISH POUNDS (c. Otto) to get in as I got chatting to the guy on the gate who waved me through. Even Norwoods Lad's got charged a quid.
The crowd was no more than 75. For those of you who were at Palace last month, the main stand is as bad as the one opposite. We had a beer in the, er, players lounge, which was at half time which is very cheap and nasty.
Not a lot of quality on show, I'm afraid, and very few of the youngsters look ready for the first team. Ryan Jarvis did well, was our biggest threat, and scored our goal. Rossi was very quiet, not helped by playing next to Fisk in centre mid who did very little. El Ouargui, very pacy, but not too much more. Spillane, played centre back and looked untroubled by Jon Macken who tried to foul him for most of the game, but Spillane did get a knock early on from Wayne Andrews, the thug who tried to pick a fight with Flem last month. Eagle had a very quiet game as well.
Joe Lewis did well, made a couple of very good saves, including one just before Palace's first goal, but could do nothing with the rebound.
Minus points - there's a few of them who would struggle in non league football. Perhaps they had a bad game, but I don't expect to see Patrick Bexfield, Adam Gusterson, Bally Smart or Alvin Quaye (who looked completely our of his depth) for much longer at NCFC.
