Worthy/Saturday

I'm a supported of 30 odd years, but saturday was my first game of the season. Good things first:
1. we won;
2. the players put in some effort.
3. the goals were well taken.

However, I was absolutely astonished by the crudity of our football. The ball spent only a small part of the game on (or anywhere near) the ground. It's no doubt been said a thousand times but is true nonetheless, that NW's only (repeat, only) idea of the game is to have the GK or a defender boot the ball towards the halfway line where it is hoped that in the ensuing melee someone will pick up the loose ball and chip/float it over the opposing back four for our 2 centre forwards to run onto. And that's it. This is the one tactic of the great guru it would be a disaster to lose, the man who is so irreplaceable that our board cannot countenance getting rid of him. It is football that might well get us out of this league, but it is dull to watch, must be appalling to play, and is destined ultimately to get us precisely nowhere. There is no reason not to try to play the game properly. We have the players, all it needs is some imagination in the coaches. Frankly (and some may not like this) in my opinion anyone satisfied with a performance like that (from a club with the tradition/wealth/size of Norwich)is ignorant of the game. Until NW goes we are stuck with football from the dark ages. Worthy Out!!
