There's still a lot of imponderables

I think we've seen enough to suggest that when we can field the right mix of players we can be competitive against quite a chunk of the division.

The difference this year is that the 'right mix' is likely to change game by game.

We looked good and were arguably unlucky against arsenal. It made sense to start the same side last night, but with the benefit of hindsight we were most effective when passing around them and even onel didn't have the pace to trouble them.

I think amadou would still be more effective in some games than trybull/tettey/mclean, but last night wasn't it.

Buendia was more effective than onel but I wouldn't have swapped them for arsenal.

If Farke can learn quickly which mix might work best for which games I think we can still be hopeful.

The zonal marking is still the biggest question mark for me.
