DB is owned by private companies (seperate track & rail) In which the German government has 100% of the shares. In other areas there are franchises and other private operators but they still have to bid for contracts.
There is a difference.
And yeah they might be on time more than UK trains but cheaper is debatable. Peak yes, off peak no.
Japan has a 264% public debt to GDP ratio to pay for those fantastic train services.
Either the commuter pays or the taxpayer pays. I personally would prefer the commuter payed considering i haven't stepped foot on a train in 5 years.
His policies are socialist policies with some in the communist bracket.
