I appreciate that he was some way down the pecking order, but surely he'd shown enough potential to be worth sticking with. And perhaps sending out on a long term loan. If he was ultimately not wanted then he would probably have attracted a reasonable fee or even eventually been released without costing us any significant amount over another couple of years. He is young and his worth to us (and now to someone else) probably will not be realised for several more years.
