As I said I think you have to accept that the show is what it has become

It's really rushed and a lot of the plot makes no sense any more. In the books I think her descent into where she ends up will be much more gradual and credible. She has always had that cruel, vindictive streak: from when her brother died to when she nailed innocent people to crosses; but she had advisors around her to temper it. Now her advisors are all dead other than Grey Worm (who wasn't really an advisor anyway, and has just become a war criminal himself by modern standards).

I thought the second half of episode 4 was just so bad that, if you suspend everything and just take episode 5 for what it is, it worked and was quite Thronesy, though still nothing like the subtle, nuanced, multi-layered character-driven early season. I think it and episode 2 are half decent this season, episode 1 was OK, and the less said about the rest...

The whole thing has made me appreciate the books that much more and wish they'd taken longer over the final series - the pacing and the move from character-driven to plot-driven - or even just cool-moment-driven writing - has made it the shadow of what it was.
