This is excellent advice.

My commute is pretty extreme. From Lynn to Liverpool Street. 2 and a half hours door to door. It's important to factor in the journey to/from the stations. I'm lucky I can walk from home to the station and from Liverpool to the office. 15 minutes each. I also only do it 3 times a week working from home the other days. Plus I generally do 8:45-16:45 in London and make the time up when working from home. Official hours are 9-6.

I have heard that the Norwich-Liverpool Street train is a bit of a nightmare. Pretty crowded and often has delays/cancellations.
