The irony of this whole situation...

Is the fact the fans only expect or "deserve" better because of what the people at this club have achieved in recent years. What I mean is that it is only since we got to the premiership that people have expected us to do so well. Before we went up an above mid table finnish was acceptable - OK we weren't dancing in the streets but we generally accepted that the club was doing it's best and we were moving perhaps slowly but surely in the right direction. What I wonder is that if we had never gone up - say we finnished in the playoffs and lost what it would be like this season - IE would be be on worthys and the boards back so much?!! I doubt it. What has happened is that through the boards ambition to take this club somewhere people have made the mistake of taking it for granted or feeling its what "we deserve". To be honest the fans are partly so great at this club because the board have made them so - they took attendances up from average of below 15,000 to 25,000 in under a decade. They have made us a club that can afford to buy or keep players the quality of Green Huckerby and Earnshaw. They are the ones that make this club one that feels like it can and should be in the premiership rather then scrapping around for odd points in the lower leagues. The very reason we underachieved this season is because we are an ambitious club. So please give them just a little credit for the very fact that we can afford to be hugely dissapointed with being 10th in the Championship?
