Now mcnally might have been responsible for not ensuring the very best infrastructure around scouting was in place, but he wasn’t the guy going out scouting players.
Also, absent his recruitment of lambert, f**k knows where the club would be now. I doubt we’d be debt free though - we were in a right mess when he took over.
That period of 3 years (league 1 to the end of our first year in the prem when the debt was repaid) has provided the foundations for everything that has followed.
We didn’t spend much last year, but our football budget (wages etc) is still massive compared to Ipswich for example, and that has everything to do with the likes of McNally, Bowkett and co.
