it isn't even just about that

I don't like the obsession with buying average players who are at an age where they are never going to improve, rather than rising talent who have at least the possibility of becoming top (maybe even - gasp! - Prem quality) talents.
Fair enough, you need a mixture of youth and experience, but what a drab old bunch of never-will-be-or-on-the-way-down journeymen we have overwhelmingly acquired.
It's all really short-termist, and yet it doesn't even work in the short-term!!!
