...for all the abuse they are recieving for their statement, I have to say I think they have raised a number of good points:
1) Should West Ham have sacked Pardew when in a similar position to ourselves last season? The majority of their fans wanted him out and look at where they are now.
2) Only 9 of the last 40 relegated Clubs from the Premiership have gone straight back up - it's clearly not an easy task.
3) Our squad was assembled for ?4mil as opposed to Birminghams ?42mil. The chances are we'll be starting next season as equal to them. Why is Bruce not under as much pressure as NW despite spending ?38mil more?
4) Quote: 'But know this, if the time does come when we all collectively feel the manager is not right, we will have no hesitation in changing things.'
This seems to indicate that Delia, Michael and the board do not have undivided loyalty to NW, but will give him every chance to turn things round on the pitch.
5) When you break down the seasons NW has been in charge we have:
Year 1 - Saved Club from relegation
Year 2 - Play Off Final
Year 3 - 8th in Div 1
Year 4 - Div 1 Champions
Year 5 - 1 point off survival in the Premiership
Year 6 - Currently 10th in Championship
If you compare that to the previous 6 years, would we say that Nigel Worthington has taken the club forward or backwards?
Be honest now.
