Daniel Farke said Norwich City’s title-winning display at Aston Villa was typical of their season.

The Canaries knew they only needed a point at Villa Park to clinch the Sky Bet Championship and were on course for just that after Teemu Pukki’s early strike had been cancelled out by Jonathan Kodjia.

However, Mario Vrancic drilled home a late winner to ensure jubilant scenes on the pitch and in the away end, with City able to end their season with a 27th league victory.

Speaking to canaries.co.uk after the game, Farke said: “Of course, at a sold-out stadium with Villa on fire, they were desperate to gain some momentum and self-confidence for the play-offs.

“But we stuck together and dominated most periods of the game. We missed so many chances but, in the end, it was a well-deserved win.

“The win was a typical example of this group of players and the whole club and supporters. Everyone deserves to have this brilliant ending.

“Everyone owns the trophy. Each and every player, each of every member of staff, especially Stuart [Webber], Delia [Smith] and Michael [Wynn Jones], our whole Board – everyone sticks together and there were some brave decisions when we were under this financial pressure.

“Stuart Webber has brought a great work ethic into this club and clear working principles, an identity and a playing philosophy.

“I have been able to play a small role in the process, the same like each and every player and each and every member of staff.

“It’s a day for Norfolk and for Norwich City. For that, we are all allowed to celebrate today.”

Farke reserved some praise for Teemu Pukki who rounded off a superb season on an individual basis by winning the Championship Golden Boot.

“He’s alright for a free signing! It’s the perfect finish for him and well-deserved. He’s an example of what you can achieve when you think more about the group and not so much about shining as an individual.

“If you are concentrated and let the group shine, then you will also shine in an individual way. In a few years, no one will know how many assists Mario Vrancic has made or appearances Moritz Leitner or Jordan Rhodes has made. Everyone will remember the season in general because it’s important you think about the group.”
