I'm disputing that financial considerations should be the determining factor in what games people should be intrigued by.

But in fact, finances are not really why the play offs are exciting, it's because of the drama and the potential for Wembley, and a trophy. Like the FA Cup, which is why an FA Cup tie would be preferred over Bournemouth v Brighton in the league.
