Weirdly I was talking about this with someone the other day. Everton are the epitome of mid table mediocrity year after year, with only occasional bouts of excitement every few years. Their fans seem to think they’re due success and get on managers backs but realistically they’ll never be any more than constant also-rans weighed down by some history in the dim and distant past. We’ve had some dreadful lows as well as dizzying highs and I prefer that - at least the journey is interesting.
