Ah. Have had it Pointed Out to me that a long time ago, I agreed to go to the theatre on Saturday evening, with a v good friend (who bought the tickets), and Mrs Hawes.
This is a very unusual thing. I can't actually remember the last time I went to the theatre. Other than a few right-on pantos at the Hackney Empire when my kids were younger.
I have floated the thought that this could (should) be the evening we clinch promotion. Which I couldn't possibly have predicted when I agreed to this (of course I have no memory whatsoever of agreeing to it, but have no choice but to accept the assertion that I did).
The reaction to this thought made clear that I will have to spend quite a few credits to do this. Both with Mrs Hawes and, unbelievably, my mate also.
Do I:
(a) take the longer view, it's only watching a game on telly, we're gonna go up anyway, just go to the play and expand my cultural horizons;
(b) stay in, watch the game with a German beer, but pay for the ticket nonetheless. So Mrs Hawes goes with my friend;
(c) stay in, watch the game with a German beer, and instruct my friend / Mrs Hawes to try and find someone else to take up the ticket.
No Mary option.
