I think that's a bit harsh on Ashton.

I know he missed some chances, but weighed against the number of times he had to receive the ball 6ft off the ground at speed with his back to goal (i.e. getting on the end of a hoof), I think it was more to do with the style of football we had/have been playing.

It took Ashton about three minutes of his first West Ham start to demonstrate all that was wrong with the way we had been playing him, when a quick series of short accurate passes found him, ball at feet on the edge of the area where an excellent turn to make space resulted in a decent attempt on goal. Didn't score 'cos the shot was a bit scuffed, but he'd done the hard work with the turn and finding space for th epass in the first place.
