I thought Wigans aggressive press and physical approach to the game was impressive. Their frontman (Leon Clarke I thnk) worked his arse off and was a real threat. They obviously tried their hardest to disrupt our fullbacks the same as Reading did and James the Chelsea loanee did well to break up our play. I felt we had small periods of the game when we did really well on the ball but we couldn't dominate the play like we usually do. When we did break through their press our attacking passes were slightly off, our final ball wasn't there yesterday but that's football. A wrather wrote on Twitter last night that as supporters we have been spoilt this season but so many great performances that when we have an off day we are surprised and I totally agree. There has been matches this season when everything we try in the final third comes off, every pass is superb and every shot seems to hit the target but our players are not robots. They have off days just like we all do.
IMO Farke now has some thinking to do before Friday, we miss Buendias trickery in the final third and as much as I like Cantwell, Steipermann and Onel maybe its time to freshen up the personnel and or the tactics? Wednesday looked s**t the other day against Leeds but their form since Bruce took over has been decent. I think we'll win but it won't be easy.
