That there pen

Honestly, I have no idea whether the decision was right according to the laws of the game and the guidance issued to refs. To me it feels odd given where his hands were and the glance off the leg. But all considered, should it have been a pen or not?

Would be great wouldn’t it if the refs body issued a little statement after something like that, explaining the incident, what happened, how it should be interpreted, whether the ref saw exactly what happened or missed some aspect, what their decision was based on etc etc. Not so we could all slate the ref, but to spread knowledge of how these incidents should judged.

Never going to happen, but wouldn’t it be refreshing?
