at a swimming competition, and one of the best parts of getting up at 6 in the morning for these things to last until 6-7pm at night was the waking up on saturday morning knowing that Norwich were playing at 3, and I had the batteries charged for my naff radio
I remember this day, flicking the radio on at 3 praying that Norwich at wimbledon, could save themselves from relegation by just getting at point
I sat there from 3, had two races that after noon session from 2-7, and prayed we could do it, cos we were never gonna beat leeds the weekend after away
I remember going off for race during the five live broadcast of the latest scores, I'll always remember fleck scored, I can't remember who took the lead or equalised but I'll always remember laying on a wet poolside in newcastle, head on big swimming bag with towels packed lunch, cards and stuff, eyes shut waiting for sports report and the news norwich were safe. It meant everything in the world to me
I remember staying over in Newcastle that night and nothing else mattered. I was at the pool the next day for the last day of the meet and had five more races and remember listening to leeds beating sheff utd to win the title and thought about just how lucky we were to be in the league
One of the best days/weekends of my life
SOrry if thats bored people, but I have fond memories stringer all ends
