It was a perfectly functional (and desperately uninteresting Premier Inn). Not that impressed with Wigan either, a few decent pubs, but the only place I've ever been to when a soup kitchen travels round the streets and is well patronised. Does make food cheaper though....
If you haven't already booked I would agree with the suggestion to book a room / rooms in a country pub or hotel about 10-15 miles away. Tbf Lancashire has some lovely countryside if you know where to go. An alternative would be Southport if you wanted a lively town centre (and a more upmarket one than Wigan)
