I started just after dawn and it was bitingly, bitingly cold. I couldn't risk going back upstairs to get a pair of glubs out of my smugging drawer, so the digits were entirely exposed, and they went white as a sheet, and tingly within a minute. Took a good two miles for them to warm up at all, but then the sun came out, and it was glorious.
