My perception is that Farke

In pre season was impressed with Thompson, knew that Trybull was good too and had plans for Tettey and decided that Godfrey had a better chance of breaking through into the two Cb positions (Hanley /klose/zimm) than at dfm.

Big kudos to all concerned as having a ball playing athletic cb has been a major boost to the squad and he'll only get better.
