Paulg, why would that even play a part in the discussion right now? It is not currently

in the plans, and if it did come up would also have to be agreed by every member state as far as I am aware. Even if that were not the case, no state would be forced into a federal Europe against its will. For me any concrete proposal to that end would be a genuine reason to have a referendum by the way.

But as you say, that would be at least 20 years away and I would think many more than that. So why would it be part of the discussion right now rather than in 20 years time?

Do we also have to take into account the potential Russian occupation of the Baltic states in 2030?
