The main red line is not being part of a customs union, but many voting for Brexit did so complaining that the EU had started out as an economic project but became a political project they didn’t like. Happy with the economic association, not happy with freedom of movement & whole load of red herrings (Turkey, for instance)
The ERG and no deal nutters have interpreted the Leave vote as leaving everything - difficult if you also want free trade deals with the EU. All this WTO nonsense is a chimera & wasn’t on any ballot paper. Fine for the finance plutocrats - JRM, Banks, Farage etc. but will leave the rest buggered.
Parliament could get a majority for an agreement that includes a customs union, and the EU have indicated this is something they would negotiate on....hasn’t happened yet because of Mays ‘red lines’.......the DUP & ERG nutters still won’t like it (NO! NO! NO!, to channel Paisley senior) but pandering to them is one of the reasons we’re in this mess.
