I can never shake my belief that Corbyn just wants to be in opposition, and that he is daunted by the reality of power.
As for the other one, I can no longer give May any benefit of the doubt that she is being in some way Machiavellian. She has missed too many open goals if she had a genuine Remain or hard Brexit bent.
I think she's just one of those sad individuals who thinks that strong leadership is having a firm and unwavering view of what should happen (aka being "bloody difficult"), and she doesn't have the emotional or intellectual capacity to think any differently at this stage (which is why she seems to be dropping hints that if she can't get her way, she's just going to resign and let someone else pick up the pieces. Two years wasted on her personal red lines.)
