I don't remember the media outrage on the level of recent related events. Her assailant was immediately described as being mentally ill. Where was the call to put fences up at tennis matches? Grealish's assailant was immediately described as a thug. I think the middle classes are finally falling out of love with football and we're slowly heading back to the days of football fans being demonised. Yes, there are yobs at matches, but It may again be fashionable to lump us all in the same bracket like it was in the 70s and 80s.
