I could almost handle the "give him more time" argument if there was any sign that he was building something. But there are no such signs.
We have not bought "hungry young players" who can improve and become class Championship (and maybe Premiership) acts. We are buying Championship standard rejects from elsewhere who are at an age where they aren't going to improve.
Is Robinson suddenly going to become a class act? Hughes? Etuhu? Johansson looks OK but he is at an age where you would expect him to start to tail off. Earnshaw seems to have been bought just because he's a well-known name, without any thought for whether his style of play suits our team "style", and vice versa.
There is no real plan. This is a team of mid-table mediocrity that is going to stay that way. We can't rely on the HUGE dollops of luck with injuries/scorelines we got in 2003/4 again. If we want to get promoted again we are going to have to improve considerably right across the board.
