But actually, that kind of budget is the very hardest to get value for money from.
It’s a big enough cost to have some expectation, but it’s hardly enough to guarantee success. Writing off a freebie or two is palatable, a £10m signing a bit less so.
I think the most important thing really is that we avoid getting lumbered with Naismith type signings on massive wages but not a great deal of ability.
