i don't know

i know that women are different to men with regard to physical activity but I utterly fail to see why gender is an actor (no pun intended) in acting? My approval is of no import whatsoever, I'm just a wee bit staggered that this differentiation is so blithely accepted. Like I say, maybe I've just overthunk it.
