through a combination of luck (4 undeserved home wins in 2005 - Baggies/Toon/Charlton/Brum) and teh fact that there were 3 other really sh*te teams. Not because we did anything great (except for one performance against ManU). Don't see how anyone can claim much credit for it. And even if you DID claim we were great towards the end, that in itself surely would simply highlight how much Worthy screwed up last season, preferring the likes of Holt and Edworthy to the far classier Safri and Helveg right up until April.
And if if you admitted that you could say (and this is what I hoped would happen) that Worthy would have learned his lesson from it - that "hard work" alone does not outweigh actual footballing ability. But the most unbelievable thing this season is that Worthy doesn't appear to have learned anything from last season. We are still seeing players signed because they are big/"honest"/shouty/clappy.
Worthy's whole footballing philosophy belongs in this division (like Megson & McCarthy) and if we stick with him that is where we are guaranteed to stay.
