he'd be offered retraining, assistance or some other token gesture to try to address the situation. This would either work if he took the ideas on board or not work which would then entail the next step, redundancy.

This doesn't happen to the best of my knowledge in football, so the only options we have are to hope he decides to try his luck elsewhere or force him out. Maybe he'll realise his time is up. And maybe I'll be having sex with Kylie Minogue tonight.
