my youthful expectations greatly exceeded my industriousness

I have probably underachieved as a result. I have been through the bitter phase (eg being overtaken by less capable peers who worked harder/got luckier/went to London at the right time)

But all in all I am now in a happier place through re-setting life priorities and expectations. I have 4 wonderful* kids that I get to put to bed at night in person rather than by phone. Life is all one big load of trade offs, and you make of it what you can. Wish I wasn't carrying the combined debt of Argentina and Greece, but hey ho.

(*by wonderful, I mean that I only want to throw them out of the window less than 50% of the time)
