He's had a couple of ropey seasons

Before this one.
Now playing in a team which is scoring loads of goals. He himself has scored more goals this year than in either of the last two.
If he makes a good impression then you'd suspect he'd be in the driving seat for a transfer if we go up.

I guess if a Prem club came in for him, but careerwise I'd say this stint is doing his rep the world of good.

And if pukki is out injured or loss of form or tired he gets his chance.
