As the Duke of Norfolk has said below "...nearly all the most successful clubs have managerial stability- Arsenal, Charlton, Man U".
Yes, but the reason these clubs have kept their managers is that they have been successful.
Keegan did a good job for Man City but he took them as far as he could and Pearce has come in and is now doing a better job.
Allardyce did a great job getting Bolton promoted and he has remained in his job because he was able to take them up a level in the prem. It's the same at Charlton. Would their managers be in a job if they were fighting relegation season after season? I doubt it.
And also take Ferguson. He has been successful year after year and as a result, he has remained as manager in that time. But before the cup final Ferguson admitted that he was under pressure to win because 2 winless seasons is not good enough.
The only managers that remain at a club for a long time are those that are consistently successful during that period.
