Gemma and I got back to New Street around 3.00pm and tried to board an earlier train knowing we had a wrong ticket. We asked one of the Virgin guards if it was ok and were told to go away and wait for the correct train. She wasn’t very pleasant to us at all.
So we went back into the ticket hall and went to one of the windows – I purposely visited one which had lady serving as I guessed she might be more sympathetic to us having to wait. (Gemma was only 10 years old at the time). I showed her the football tickets and told the story and she endorsed the train tickets so we could get the next one back to London, and even apologised saying we would not have reserved seats!
