Especially when there were other parties campaigning to remain on their manifestos.
There definitely should be more going on. But there isnt suprise suprise. Considering this is the bigger political decision of our generation that effects every part of our country and economy is pretty understandable why their main focus is on it.
It's not a meaningless stat. It's the share of the vote in last general election. And had the share been distributed differently we may not be leaving.
Also bear in mind had the general election not be called. TM would still have a majority making it far easier for her to pass the legislation.
Instead 82% of the electorate voted in MPs who campaigned on a manifesto that was based predominantly around leaving the European Union.
So either the electoral commission lied about the % share of vote. Or.. a large proportion of people who voted remain in the referendum also voted for a party that would Brexit on their manifesto.
It's utterly hypocritical.
And if it matters that much about remaining in the EU to them then they shouldn't of voted in parties in favour of it.
