Sister is married to an ex legionairre and lives near Carcassonne (Though she works in Corsica during the summer) reckons they couldn't survive without a vehicle. So much so she has even driven to Andorran to fill up before. Bit naive to worry about climate change in the future when the locals can hardly survive now. I was surprised how little the firemen earned in France - almost half what I earned over here.
