I’m enjoying seeing them eat humble pie

It was obvious to everyone outside the club that they were in decline and McCarthy had done a great job.

Even if they do avoid relegation this season, surely it’s only a matter of time?

It might work out ok in the long run though. Not many clubs who are big for league 1 that go down there stay down and don’t come back in decent-ish shape. I’m thinking of Sheff United, us, Sheff Weds, forest, Leeds, Southampton (serious cash spent so probably not a valid comparison), Bristol City (rich owner).

I suppose the less positive examples are Charlton, Coventry (although that club is a basket case), Blackburn. And there must be a risk that their crowd sizes mean they end up becoming a Barnsley / Preston / Rotherham / Wigan / Bolton that are seemingly set to bounce around between championship and league 1 for the foreseeable future.

Oh well. Not my problem. To anyone that feels sorry for them, don’t; just remember how much they loved it when we went down.
