A few thoughts on last night

All in all it’s a point away and the fact we find that disappointing is probably a sign of how far we have come. It’s not the end of the world and keeps us top and I’m not going to be harsh on players who have been magnificent for us of late. We won’t win or hit the heights of recent games every week, conditions were also awful.

However we were certainly below par and it was probably the worst we’ve played since the sc*m game. The zip just wasn’t there in our passing and I felt we never really had full control of the game. We missed Leitner more than I expected. The way he comes short to give the defenders an out ball and just keeps the ball movingn around the midfield with short passes is important to the way we control games. Without him Tettey, Zimmerman and Klose often had to play riskier passes and we gave it away more often. I felt Vrancic maybe should have started ahead of Trybull.

Other than that things just didn’t quite come off and whereas in recent games we’ve been clinical too often there was an extra touch taken or the shot was delayed. Fine margins in most cases but just enough to allow them to get a block in. Sometimes we just need to put out foot through it or whip an early cross in. The one time we did the latter Trybull certainly should have scored.

Fair play to Hull. They are limited but have two very good wide players and worked very hard. I don’t know if that’s how they always play or Adkins had done his homework but they exploited the space our full backs often leave very well and caused us a few problems although I never really felt we would lose.

All in all if we win the two home game es coming up that probably becomes a handy point.
