As I say there, cycling is still a really, really low risk activity, notwithstanding the *very* occasional serious injury or death. We completely accept it with driving without ever demanding everyone wears helmets. For some reason helmets have become 'expected' by lots of people when it comes to cycling - which almost certainly puts lots of people off. Attitudes are completely different elsewhere - we shouldn't just assume we're 'right' and they're wrong.
