I worry about the consequences of any second referendum

I voted Remain.

At least one of the narratives around Brexit (and Trump, for that matter) is democracy finally reflecting the views - however "uninformed" the chattering classes would paint them as - of vast swathes of the effectively disenfranchised.

In this world view, much of the reaction to the vote has been the squealing of said chattering classes as democracy turns into something done to them by people quite unlike them. Which is what it's been like for those left-behind groups for too long.

Polls suggest a second referendum would be a narrow win for Remain, largely due to demography.

However the net effect of telling those people who finally felt they'd had a say that, actually, "we" are going to keep on asking until we get the right answer might be very ugly indeed.

For this reason I don't support a second referendum, though if there was one, I'd still vote Remain in it.
