Ultimately Paul Lambert was

a man who walked out on Colchester when they were building something to join us. Obviously we loved that at the time but he (and we) did not behave particularly well.

He then (allegedly) went behind our backs to line up the Villa job (having previously threatened to join Burnley), manufactured a spat with the club so he could walk out and then had the nerve to try and sue our club to pay up his contract when he was the one who walked out for a supposedly better job. That tells you everything you need to know about the sort of guy he is (if the way we got him from Col U did not already).

I think many of us have been a little torn about Lambert since he left, obviously disliking how he left but still obviously remembering the success he brought to the club and perhaps also in my case because of my dissatisfaction with certain decisions of our board over the years thinking we brought his departure on ourselves. But its clear he is just someone who forms no attachment to any club he manages and who has no affinity or respect for the fans of the clubs he at or he has left (see also his celebrations when Villa scored at Carrow Road). It really is "just a job" to him.

To be honest makes me feel a bit bad about some of my comments about Russ Martin who for all his faults in terms of defensive ability, certainly loved/loves the club.
