Two lessons here: One, the machinery of capitalism is no more immune to incompetence today than it ever has been, and Two, those with stockpiled capital who are alert enough can exploit the edge cases that incompetence provides to benefit themselves and themselves alone.
Of course, that's just one moral reading of lesson two. I now have a desk drawer full of the Best Flapjacks. I might redistribute those among the proletariat. I might not, but on the outside of the system you have no way of knowing for sure.
I mean, I won't. I'm going to eat those f**kers myself. After a lunchtime run they're absolutely perfect for the three o'clock slump.
I think what we can learn from this is that austerity has been a long-running slowburn moral failure, and the architects and cheerleaders should be pilloried in the public square. Viva la revoluciĆ³n. #guillotines
