Been to a HSV game in Hamburg more than once.

Not been to a game since the mid 90s though - but they had a great atmosphere and were friendly. The city itself is great, FWIW it has more millionaires than any other German city, as I recall. The port is huge and worth a visit and most of the port area where there was a big squatting / hippy scene has been mostly gentrified, although there are pockets of resistance. It’s always had a bit of the counterculture feel and presence, which is nice. The Reeperbahn is worth a visit in my opinion - like a slightly less touristy version of Amsterdam but with better bars (used to be the case anyway). Be aware that solitary men of an evening used to get pounced upon by prostitutes working the streets so watch out, it may still happen. The Fischmarkt opens at about 5am and is brilliant, it’s often used as a last port of call before going home from a night out.

Good plaice. Fischmarkt. See?
