People were still inside the 'security zone' including kids at Open. Plod & Stewards weren't letting parents in to go and collect them, security risk you see.
Also they might get ash blown on them if the wind changed direction from the fireworks not starting for another hour. Pretty impressive fireworks if they can create ash before they are lit.

My Older sister got a little irate with one after trying 4 different routes to try and get to her 13 year old daughter, on foot, to collect her.

Plod response (2 of them there) was to call for backup.

Nice council lady saw what was going on and simply let moved the barrier for her.
