The present predicament has nothing to do with failure to attract outside investment of you ask me. An outsider willing to just give us 25m a year - which is a huge “investment” run rate - is a drop in the ocean these days. One extra player?
Our problem has been wazzing our broadcast riches away on garbage. Jarvis. Naismith. Lafferty. Mulumbu. And before that Ricky, Leroy. The list goes on and on.
Last year we had a decent squad at champs level for which we were overpaying massively. Then add in a manager who was struggling and we blew our big chance. The huge financial advantage we had over others got us precisely nowhere.
Now that advantage is pretty much gone, so we need to start again and actually make some good footballling decisions. Which is what Webber and Farke are at least trying to do.
