Oct 20th 2017 Walking Football Match Report.
DAVID LEE·SATURDAY, 28 OCTOBER 2017
Oct 20th 2017 (Friday) from 10am to 12pm, Walking Football at Norfolk County FA's Football Development Centre. Special thanks to Mike, as he gave me a lift from Marlborough Guest House to the FDC Norfolk and after.
I start play football from Form 3 in Hong Kong, it's nearly about 26 years now despite I was overweight. I can only remember I scored a hat-trick last time, when I was still in Canada, study in University: I play in an indoor game, against the kids, which was in 1996. Of course, I mainly play sweeper in the amateur level, so I won't able to get goals easily; but on this day, I would never forget, since I scored a hat-trick again, it was after 21 years! I don't know if I will score another treble before I die.
I play 4 times Walking Football during my trip to Norwich City in 2017. On 13th, I scored 2 goals in 4 games, on Oct 16th, I scored 0 goals in 4 games; so, on the early morning on Oct 20th, I was quite determined I need to perform today, because on last match day, I am not happy with my performance. I did more warm ups before the game. There were about 33 players so we divide to 6 teams, I was in Jim's Team again since last match day, which he was one of the players I admired during last year, great passer of the ball liked Ian Crook. The weather was a bit cold and little raining, no doubt it is my favourite weather to play.
Again we play 4 games on Oct 20th, the first game we lost 2:3, I scored one goal, after Mike’s shot hit the post, I shut for the pass, and Mike cushion the ball back to me, outside the area, with a defender around me, I managed to curl the ball to the far post, when I also lost my footing a bit, but the ball was going in quite brilliantly. My 5th goals of 2017. It was a good goal, but we lost.
Every 5-a-side game we played was 10 minutes each half. The 2nd game of the day, which saw Jim's Team played against Team Yellows. The weather situation did not improve, they scored first, but I equalize at 1:1 (2 min 42 sec - 2 min 55 sec): shame the angle of the camera cannot catch all of my play: I was on right wing position, normally you should see I pass the ball back, but I did try something different, I was not always do it, as I push the ball a bit, beat the defender on the outside, then I tried to cross the ball, or a weak angle shot; you know in the 5-a-side rules, outfield players cannot go inside the penalty area or the half circle, but the keeper made a mess of it, the ball went through his legs, and in! Luckily it was 1:1.
They scored again to make it 2:1, but then I scored again in make it 2:2 (7:20-7:34): our captain Jim received the ball from the left, his first time shot hit the post and bounce out to the other side, fortunately their defender cannot control the rebound, I was at the right place and the right time, on the right hand side too, I used my right foot to side foot the ball to the far post, which wrong footed the goalkeeper, and it's in! 2:2. First half score was 2:2.
At the start of the second half, after the first minute passed (1:10-1:40), their defender made an error, step inside the penalty area to touch the ball, it was an indirect free kick just outside the box, again Mike pass the ball to me, I again use my right foot, to side foot the ball low to the near post, and it’s in again! 3:2! My hat-trick goal and my 8th goals scored in 2017, it was not the best one, but it was the most important one! They eventually equalized again after a great shot, I was frustrated; but finally, Mike get the ball in midfield, pass to captain Jim just outside the area, a brilliant drive to the far post, it's 4:3! We finally win it! 4:3 the final score and I scored the first 3 goals!
I must admit I was really pleased to win this game, only because I scored the hat-trick to help the team to win, but in Team Yellow squad, they had a very young kid play for them, which was one of the player's son, he should not over 25 years old, as he look liked Sunderland's Duncan Watmore, and he's also great on contorl, shoot and dribble the ball; also they had two young adult, which I think it's around 40 years old, plus they had 6 players vs 5 in the first half, although switch in second half as we had 6 vs 5 in the second half. You should know how much pleasing I was.
Sadly, the other 2 games I play, I cannot score. We lost 2:5 and won 4:1, but what a great day of football! After the game, Mike give me a lift back to the B&B, big hank you for this gentleman again, not only the lift and he always assist me!
